The Spanish text was brought back from Spain by Stephen Borough, who was able in 1558 thanks to Mary Tudor's marriage to Philip II to visit the Casa de Contratación in Seville. This followed hard on the heels of his successful voyage to Russia in 1556. Borough was so impressed by the establishment at Seville that he persuaded the newly founded Muscovy Company to sponsor the translation by Richard Eden. |
