Preliminary Material Notes: The letter to the Reader details the texts cited in the book. The first citation comes from a text of three sermons, preached on the "feast day of the Beatification of the glorious patriarch blessed Ignatius", first published in Spanish then translated into French and Latin. It contains contributions from reverend Doctors "Petrus de Valderama, an Augustine Frier" and "Petrus Deza of the order of the Dominicans", and Father "Iacobus Rebuttosa, of the same Order". The translator continues that: "In this Discourse I haue followed the edition of the French translation made by Father Francis Solier a Iesuite, imprinted at Poitiers by Anthony Mesnier, Printer to the King and the Vniuersity, the yeare 1611". He admits that although these particular writers are not Jesuits "yet by translating, publishing, and recommending them, they haue made them theirs". There then follows a list of books cited.
